A High Wind Warning has been issued for Bangor and Downeast Maine as a strong storm system is expected to bring strong, gusty winds, and heavy rain to the state.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the Bangor area and Downeast Maine, while much of the state is under a Wind Advisory. A strong storm system is expected to push into the state overnight Thursday into Friday. Strong wind gusts up to 50-60 MPH are expected, along with heavy rain.

Locally heavy rain is expected, especially just after sunset Thursday. Bangor and Downeast areas may see near an inch-and-half of rainfall.

Forecasters are warning of potential damage to trees and power lines tonight and into Friday.
