
Strong to Severe Thunderstorms Possible for Much of Maine Tuesday
Tuesday's forecast features thunderstorms, some in which could be strong to severe.
UPDATE: A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of western Maine until 9 P. M. Storms may produce tornados, winds gusting to 70 MPH, and quarter size hail.
The National Weather Service in Caribou is warning of strong thunderstorms Tuesday. Forecasters warn some storms could be severe. Areas of western and northern Maine are at an elevated risk of severe weather. The Bangor and Downeast areas may also see strong thunderstorms throughout the afternoon.
Forecasters say "Damaging wind gusts will be the primary threat during the afternoon, though isolated large hail could also occur." Locally heavy rainfall is also possible.
Wednesday's forecast features a slight chance for a shower or thunderstorm.
