Forecasters are warning of the possibility of strong thunderstorms around the state Wednesday.

The National Weather Service is advising those who have outdoor plans Wednesday to keep an eye to the sky. Strong thunderstorms may pop up around the Bangor area today as a cold front crosses the state. The possibility of severe thunderstorms is mainly this afternoon into the evening.

The NWS says Wednesday's "thunderstorms may produce heavy downpours and dangerous cloud to ground lightning. Some of these storms may be accompanied by damaging winds and small hail. Heavy downpours may cause ponding on roads and minor urban and small stream flooding."
