Stink Bugs Are In Maine (+ Want To Come In Your House!)
It's that time of year in Maine when the aptly-named stink bug is trying to come in your house. Here's how you can get rid of them.
First of all, a stink bugs -- a.k.a the brown marmorated stink bug -- won't bite you. They will, however, try to get in your house to survive the winter.
They're not from Maine. They originated in Asia, according to Maine Department of Agriculture.
On Monday, the department asked Mainers to report sightings of the bug.
They are considered a nuisance not only because they eat many different leaves and fruits, but they will often -- and sometimes in large numbers -- migrate inside homes to survive the winter.
Experts say the best way to keep them out of your house is to caulk windows and doors and remove air conditioners in mid-September, because the latter is a common way to gain access to the house.
The best way to get rid of them once they are inside is to vacuum them up and throw out the bag. If you disturb or crush them, they will emit an unpleasant odor.
