You know it’s summer when the Flamingo Festival takes place and at the same time Southwest Harbor Public Library holds their annual Big Book Sale Friday to Sunday at the Library in the Children’s Garden, and at the American Legion Hall behind the library which is on Village Green Way in Southwest Harbor.

Personally there are a lot of books in my home. The intent is not necessarily to hold onto them, it just ends up happening that way. As far as collecting books, there are two subjects I do collect.  But this is not the place for me to tell you what category of books those are. Just know that I have a book going at all times, and sometimes more than one.

Plus if I were to tell you what books I collect, you might beat me to the Big Book Sale this weekend in Southwest Harbor and scoop up what I’d buy before I get there.

Expect all types of books.  Hardcovers, gently used paperbacks, and rare books that have been donated especially for this sale.  Also, a special section of children’s books. Don’t worry I already have all the Curious George books.  You will find puzzles and games too.

The hours are 9 a.m until 4 pm all 3 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  If you would like to donate books, or volunteer it is not too late to do so.  Call the Library at 244-7065.  They also need help setting up the sale tomorrow night and taking everything down next Monday.

If you're lucky enough to be heading to the beach or up to camp sometime this summer, this might be a smart place to go this weekend.
