Significant Rain Expected For Coastal Maine Today + Tonight

The National Weather Service is forecasting significant rainfall along the coast this afternoon.

Over an inch of rain is expected in Downeast areas today into tonight. The rain will develop from south to north through this afternoon. The Bangor area will see about half an inch of rain. Further north, the rainfall will be lesser.

Friday forecasters are warning of the possibility of strong thunderstorms. The storms are expected across western and northern areas of the state. Some may produce strong winds and hail.
