Portland Police have arrested a suspect in connection with shots fired into the police parking garage on Sunday.

Newscenter Maine reports Abdikareem Hassan, 32 of Portland is charged with assaulting a federal officer in connection with his alleged conduct when he was taken into the police station for questioning. According to the criminal complaint, Hassan assaulted police officers and an FBI special agent who were working on the investigation. Police say a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that the man is innocent until proven guilty. Investigators recovered a handgun believed to have been used in the shooting. An officer was in the garage at the time of the incident but no one was hurt.

The parking garage shooting was one of several incidents involving endangering police over the weekend, including fireworks being aimed at officers in a public park.
