A TV segment last week nearly gave me a heart attack when I saw a beautiful dog that's up for adoption, and looks exactly like our Gifford.

When you're talking about pedigree dogs, I'm sure this isn't an unusual thing to see a dog that resembles one of your own. But Gifford, who passed away recently, was no pedigree. He was what we called a 'Heinz 57,' a mix of German Shepherd, Springer Spaniel, Hound, Husky, and who-knows-what-else. So to see another dog, listed as a boxer mix, that looks just like him has to be a million-to-one shot.

Marley is up for adoption through Lucky Pup Rescue, and is a 4-month-old girl. She's smaller than Giff at that age, but her markings are nearly identical, right down to a white stripe on her side that we used to call Gifford's ice cream mark. She's a beautiful girl and, if she's half as sweet as Giff, will make someone an awesome companion. I hope she finds her furr-ever home soon with someone who will treat her like family.
