The final Color Bangor Color Run/Walk will be held this Saturday, to benefit the American Folk Festival.

Let me start by assuring you that the American Folk Festival isn't going anywhere. That's the first question I get asked every time I tell someone that this is the Final Color Bangor event. The beloved festival will continue to fill the city of Bangor with music and culture from around the world, even after the color run/walk goes away.

Festival organizers just feel that Color Bangor has run its course, so to speak. They want to explore other fundraising opportunities in the future, and so have decided to make this the last year for the 5K that offers stations throughout the route where volunteers throw colored cornstarch onto the participants' white t-shirts. It's a very fun event, including 'Color Village' on the waterfront that includes music, refreshments, and coordinated color 'throws' that offer great photo opportunities.

The video shows the 'Celebrity Color Pelt,' that I've taken part in for several years. City officials, Police Officers,Firefighters, and members of the media stand in a line while young people throw as much color on them as possible. I have to miss it this year, but can tell you, it's a lot of fun. But just a word of warning; your dog may not know you when you get home.
