Retired State Trooper Arrested In Drug Investigation
A retired state trooper was arrested late Wednesday night and charged with selling cocaine and fentanyl.
Jeffrey Linscott, 51, of Buxton was arrested on Main Street in Gorham by DEA agents and Gorham police around 11:30 p.m., the Maine Department of Public Safety said in a Thursday news release.
He was arrested as he was delivering suspected fentanyl to a customer in the parking lot of the Gorham Hannaford, the release said.
Police said several grams of suspected fentanyl and $1,000 in suspected drug proceeds were seized from Linscott.
He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail in Portland, where bail was set at $50,000 cash.
Linscott served for 22 years with Maine State Police and retired in Nov. of 2010.
Drug agents over the past two months have been investigating the distribution of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine throughout Cumberland County. The release said that investigation included the undercover purchase of drugs from Linscott.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
