The No Labor Jack O Lantern is A Thing
You know the drill. If you haven't done it yet, you probably will soon. And if not you, somebody else in your home.
And maybe it'll be somebody who doesn't stay in your home.
Talking about turning a pumpkin into a Jack O Lantern.
It starts with the picking or the purchasing of the pumpkin. They make a great fall decorative as a pumpkin or as a Jack O Lantern.
First the purchase. Great time for some family bonding. And a great time for the kiddos to select the pumpkin they want.
Next, for some it's gather as a family and carve the pumpkin.
Sometimes Dad likes to show off his artistic skill and he does the work on it alone in the workshop
That is impressive, and I know pumpkins. Some of my best friends are Jack O lanterns
You know squirrels love getting at pumpkins and creating their version of Jack O Lanterns.
And I learned something new about pumpkins and Jack O lanterns this year.
It's not just the kids, or the artist father, that likes to carve pumpkins. Actually it's not carve.
Back to the cover picture, which came from a farm in Maine.
How about pecking the pumpkin. It's a thing. That pumpkin was scratched on the surface just enough to break the skin.
And then next you call the chickens over.
They do the rest and they do a pretty good job. Chickens carved the pumpkin above. And bonus - When hens carve a pumpkin, the next days eggs taste just like a pumpkin spice latte.
Of course chickens carvng pumpkins is on TickTok. Take a look at this Jack O Lantern being created.
