Portland Police continue to investigate a shooting that sent two people to the hospital over the weekend.

A report of gunshots sent police to the area of Cumberland Avenue and Mayo Street just after 4:00 Sunday morning. When officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old Portland woman inside a red Jeep Patriot with a gunshot wound. She was treated at the scene and taken to Maine Medical Center with a non-life threatening injury.

Before police even arrived at the scene, they had started looking for a male they believed was involved. A short time later, a 30-year-old man was found on Marginal Way, near the sewage treatment plant, who also had a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He was treated at the scene before being taken to Maine Medical Center.

So far, no one has been arrested. The investigation is continuing, including police interviews with those involved to try and determine exactly what happened. Police say there is no risk to the public.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Portland Police Department at (207) 874-8575.
