Orono becomes one of six police departments in Maine to use body cameras while on duty.

The “Watch Gaurd” brand cameras clip on to officers’ uniforms. Orono’s police chief says the cameras will help protect officers from false accusations and will also help the public if an officer acts inappropriately.

Orono’s Town Council approved purchasing body cameras last year.
