Jason Williams of South Carolina became the card’s owner and later decided to sell it through Fanatics Collect.
Williams also visited Flagg Trading Co. in Bangor to meet Flagg before the card sold at auction for $8.04 million on Sept. 25.
Rookie Debut Patch Autograph cards for San Antonio Spurs rookie Dylan Harper and Charlotte Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel sold for $2.88 million and $2.34 million, respectively, early Friday in the same auction.
The three cards were the auction’s only sales above $1 million and set the three highest sale prices for that type of card across any sport.
