BANGOR, Maine -- Police have charged an Orono man with murder in connection with the death of a  missing 15-year-old Glenburn girl, whose body police believe they found last night in the woods of Old Town.

Kyle Dube, 20, turned himself into authorities on May 17 on unrelated charges, according to state police.

Dube is set to make an initial court appearance at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday on one charge of intentional or knowing murder in the death of 15-year-old Nichole Cable.

"Unfortunately, this did not end as we wanted," Penosbcot County Sheriff Glenn Ross told reporters at a Tuesday news conference.

While a positive identification has not yet been made, police have notified the family that they believe the body is that of Cable, who had been the subject of an intense search effort since she was reported missing by her parents on May 13.

The body is being sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for a positive identification.

Nichole reportedly told her mother on May 12 that she was going out to the driveway to meet someone she said she knew. Dube posted about the case on his Facebook page.

At a press conference at the Leonard Middle School today, RSU 34 Superintendent of Schools David Walker said grief counselors will be available at the schools as long as they're needed. All extra-curricular and after-school activities were canceled today in Old Town, including tonight's band concert. Nichole Cable was a sophomore at Old Town High School.
