An Oakland man has died as the result of a crash between his motorcycle and a vehicle in Augusta.

The accident happened just after 8:30 Saturday evening on the Old Belgrade Road and Civic Center Drive in Augusta. Police say Patric Sherman, 58, of Oakland was deceased when officers arrived. A motorcycle, driven by Sherman, had collided with a white Mitsubishi SUV. The details about the crash, and who was at fault, are still under investigation.

51-year-old Venise Thompson, who was a passenger on Sherman's motorcycle, was treated for injuries. The driver of the SUV, 23-year-old Eric Arbour of Augusta, and his passenger, 54-year-old Karla Pleasant of Augusta were not hurt in the crash.
