Maine 54-Year-Old Indicted for Manslaughter for Baby's Death

Lisa Barney, 54, of Oakland was indicted by the Kennebec County Grand Jury on September 19, 2024.

Police Say the Maine Infant Died Several Days After An 'Incident'

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Aaron Turcotte says the charges stem from the death of a 4-month-old infant on September 8, 2023. Police say the 'incident' happened on August 31, 2023 in Oakland and the baby died days later. The details of the child's injury have not been released. An autopsy was conducted by the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta, and the infant's death was ruled a homicide.

Maine Woman Accused of Manslaughter Was Taken to the Kennebec County Jail

Barney was transported to the Kennebec County Jail and bail was set at $100,000 cash/surety.
