A number of communities throughout the state Sunday topped the 90-degree mark, and some areas set new record highs for the date.

The temperature in Caribou topped out at 91 degrees, while it reached 93 degrees at Millinocket Municipal Airport, both record highs, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou.

Bangor tied its record high of 91 degrees.

The National Weather Service in Gray said both Augusta and Portland tied records set in 1984. It reached 93 degrees in Portland, while the temperature in Augusta hit 91 degrees.

The weather office in Gray said most areas were at least 10 to 15 degrees above normal.
