This will be Don Orsillo’s final season with NESN as the play-by-play voice of the Boston Red Sox, according to media reports.

Orsillo’s contract with NESN expires at the end of the season and the station will not be offering him a new one. Dave O’Brien is expected to replace Orsillo. O’Brien currently works as a member of the Red Sox radio broadcast team on WEEI.

Orsillo is known for his easy-going, laid-back approach and lighthearted banter with broadcast partner Jerry Remy.

Orsillo has been calling Red Sox games since 2001 and took over the gig full-time for NESN in 2005.
