After scrapping an appearance in Bangor, the Nao Santa Maria will make a stop in Castine.

The Nao Santa Maria was to dock in Bangor as a part of the 4-Port Loop with several other ships, July 15-17. However, the Bangor event was canceled amid concerns from residents about its connection to Christopher Columbus. The ship is a replica of the ship Christopher Columbus sailed to America in 1492.

Prior to the ship's scheduled trip to Bangor, it was docked in Bucksport. After the cancellation of its Bangor appearance, the ship had no other place to go. It sailed out of Bucksport Harbor Wednesday, according to WABI.
