The manhunt for a Massachusetts murder suspect in the Wilton area has ended and the man is in custody.

Maine State Police say 34-year-old Derrell Guy of Lynn, Massachusetts was arrested without incident on Tuesday. He was the subject of a manhunt that started Monday morning when he fled from a traffic stop. Wilton Police say Guy was a passenger in a vehicle that had been stopped on Route 2. When police realized there was a warrant out for his arrest, he fled on foot. Residents were advised to keep their doors and vehicles locked and to remove the keys from their vehicles until Guy was caught.

At 11:30 Tuesday morning, police received a tip that Guy had been spotted behind a home on Earth Way in Carthage. Several law enforcement agencies converged on the area, with K9 trackers, and they found him on Winter Hill Road, about 6 miles from the location of the original traffic stop. He was taken to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, where the U.S. Marshal's Service will charge him with being a fugitive from justice. Guy is now awaiting extradition to Massachusetts to face charges of armed robbery and murder.

The investigation and search involved many law enforcement agencies, including the Maine State Police, Maine Warden Service, Maine Forest Service, Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Wilton Police Department, the Department of Corrections, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Marshal's Service, the Maine State Police Tactical Team, and Maine State Police Crisis Negotiation Team.
