Ms. Rachel Teams up With New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani

The children’s content creator and educator from Maine is set to work with New York City’s new mayor and administration.

With the new administration now in place, Ms. Rachel, whose real name is Rachel Accurso, and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani are preparing to work together on initiatives aimed at supporting new families.

In an Instagram post on December 28th, 2025, Ms. Rachel said she hopes books will be included in the mayor’s proposed ‘Baby Baskets.’

The proposal would provide new parents with free items, including diapers, baby wipes, nipple cream, and other postnatal resources.

Ms. Rachel compared her plan to donate books to children to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which has donated more than 270 million books to kids around the world.

Ahead of his inauguration on January 1st, 2026, Mamdani announced that the content creator, who has lived in New York City for more than a decade, will be part of his inaugural committee.

While they’re partnering up in New York, both have strong roots and connections to Maine’s Pine Tree State.

Ms. Rachel grew up in the Biddeford area and is an alumna of Sanford High School, while Mamdani was part of Bowdoin College’s class of 2014.
