A Milbridge man suspected of shooting two people in Trenton was arrested after a car accident in Holden.

The Hancock County Regional Communications Center received a 911 call just before 8:30 Sunday night reporting shootings in Trenton. Hancock County Sheriff's Deputies, Ellsworth Police Officers, and Maine State Troopers responded to the scene in Trenton and discovered two men who had been shot inside a residence. They were transported by ambulance for treatment of their wounds.

A brief investigation led police to a motor vehicle accident in Holden, involving the people suspected of being involved in the shooting. The suspected offenders were taken by ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Early Monday morning, 50-year-old Larry Smith of Milbridge was released from the hospital and immediately arrested. He was transported to the Hancock County Jail, where he's expected to be charged with Attempted Murder and Robbery.

Officials say the incident remains under investigation, but there are no further safety concerns for the public. Additional arrests are likely.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
