The Hancock County Sheriff's Office says a man took a stolen car to test drive a motorcycle, which he also stole.

In this technical world, we all have to be so careful about what we buy and who we buy it from. There are plenty of people out there who are looking to scam us by being less than truthful about the condition of the product they have for sale. It's important to do our homework, if possible, and check out the seller's credibility. But few of us would expect a situation like this, where the person who had an item for sale ended up the victim of a thief.

Hancock County Chief Deputy Patrick Kane says Deputy Marcus Downes responded to a Surry residence, just before 8:00 on Wednesday morning, to a report of a stolen motorcycle. The man who lived at the home told Deputy Downes that he had a motorcycle that was up for sale. He said a man had stopped by to take the bike for a test drive, but he never brought it back, so the owner was reporting it stolen. He said that the man had left behind a sedan that was sitting on his property. An investigation revealed that the sedan the suspect had driven to the Surry location was also stolen.

At last report, officials were still looking for the suspect. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Hancock County Sheriff's Office.
