Maine Wardens Cracking Down On Intoxicated Boaters This Weekend
Boating season is here, and Maine law enforcement agencies are cracking down on intoxicated boaters.
The Maine Warden Service, Maine Marine Patrol and the U.S. Coast Guard are teaming up for Operation Dry Water. The nationwide campaign is aimed at raising BUI awareness and enforcement. Over the weekend, June 29 – July 1, Maine Game Wardens will be conducting OUI focused enforcement and safety inspections.
Alcohol is the leading contributing factor in recreational boating deaths in Maine, and around the country.
Penalties for OUI boating include fines, jail, and impoundment of watercraft in some cases.
