Maine authorities have been investigating the alleged sexual exploitation of a teenager by a former Skowhegan city official.

Skowhegan Town Manager Investigated for Online Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

Nicholas Nadeau, 32, of Winslow, has been the subject of an investigation by the Maine State Police.

Nadeau was the Town Manager of Skowhegan when the investigation began.

Maine Man Suspected of Online Sexual Exploitation of a Florida Teen

Local authorities were alerted to the case by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip originated from a 14-year-old girl in Florida who reported alleged inappropriate online communication with an adult male.

During the early phase, investigators identified evidence consistent with sexual exploitation offenses, according to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss.

The investigation has been closed due to the death of Mr. Nadeau.
