Officials Say a Child Who Fled the School Left Behind Concerning Personal Belongings

Superintendent Heidi O'Leary says the student, whose name has not been released, fled the school just before the start of classes.

The student left personal belongings behind at school that might have suggested the intent to run away, including a hatchet, hunting knife, personal documents, and food supplies, and we are taking extra precautions to locate the student at this time.

O'Leary says the shelter-in-place was ordered out of an abundance of caution for the safety of all students.

UPDATE: The shelter-in-place order has been lifted. MSAD #75 officials say the missing student has been located and is in the care of their family.

The shelter-in-place order allowed students to transition between classes inside the building, but no students or classes were allowed out of the school until the issue was resolved. Officials have now released that order and the day will continue as usual.
