Several police departments around the state will celebrate community on Tuesday during the annual National Night Out.

Maine Police Agencies Among Those Nationwide Hosting a National Night Out

This event is a chance for local police agencies to build relationships between community members and members of law enforcement. It's like Coffee with a Cop, but on a much larger scale, and including the entire family.

One of the cool things about this is that all of these celebrations happen on the same night. So, across the country, communities are coming together to interact with each other and with members of law enforcement.

Most National Night Out events include refreshments, games, and a chance to interact with members of law enforcement in a positive situation because, let's be honest, most of us only interact with the police after they've pulled us over for something.

Several Maine Police Departments are taking part in the National Night Out movement this year, and are inviting people in for some fun.

Several Maine Police Agencies Will Hold National Night Out Events on Tuesday

Among the participants are:

Old Town Police - The fun starts at 5 p.m. in Main Street Park, with a touch-a-truck, bounce house, yard games, free barbecue, giveways, live music and more.

Lincoln Police - From 6 to 8 p.m. in Cobb Field, community members can enjoy food, fun, and community spirit.

Farmington - Several local agencies, including the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, will join together to host the event from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Farmington Fairgrounds with fun, food, games, and other activities.

Skowhegan Police - Coburn Park will be the site for this community celebration that will feature family-friendly activities, games, food, and more, hosted by the Skowhegan Police Department and R.E.A.C.H., (Relationships Educations Aspirations Community Health) for a drug-free community.

A list of all the Maine police agencies taking part can be found on the National Night Out website.
