Maine Man Allegedly Threatened To Show Up At School With an AR-15
An exchange on a social media site resulted in an Aroostook County man allegedly threatening violence against someone who questioned him.
Who Was Arrested?
Adam J. Green, 36, was arrested after a heated exchange on social media resulted in him allegedly making threats against another person.
How Were the Threats Made?
Topsham Police Chief Marc Hagan says the incident began after Green allegedly made jokes about the October 25, 2023, shooting incident in Lewiston. A Topsham resident allegedly questioned him about why he would make jokes. At this point, police say Green allegedly messaged the person from Topsham, via social media, asking for his address. Green then allegedly threatened to show up at the local elementary school with his AR-15 and allegedly made threats against the Topsham resident that made them fear for their own personal safety.
Police were notified of the incident, as were the administrators of M.S.A.D. 75. Out of an abundance of caution, the school district decided to go into lockdown mode, while police investigated.
What Charges Does He Face?
It was initially believed that Green lived in Caribou, but when Topsham Police contacted Caribou Police and asked them to arrest him, they learned that he was located in Fort Fairfield. He was taken into custody and arrested on the following charges on warrants issued by the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office:
- Terrorizing (2 counts)
- Harassment by telephone or other electronic device (1 count)
School officials were notified and the shelter-in-place was rescinded. This case remains under investigation by the Topsham Police Department.
