
Maine Authorities Seize Thousands In Drugs During Hotel Raids
Two separate drug busts in Maine hotels resulted in the seizure of huge amounts of cocaine and roughly 91,000 lethal doses of fentanyl.
Maine Drug Agents Seize Cocaine Base from a Westbrook Hotel
On Thursday, drug agents were in Westbrook, investigating alleged illegal drug activity in a hotel on the Portland/Westbrook line.
Two suspects were arrested:
- Amanuel A. Sentayehu, 29, of Westbrook, who's charged with aggravated trafficking in cocaine base.
- Aria A. Pomerleau, 30, of Bridgton, who's charged with aggravated trafficking in cocaine base, falsifying physical evidence, and two outstanding arrest warrants for failure to appear.
Maine Drug Enforcement agents worked with members of the Westbrook and Portland Police Departments on the investigation that resulted in a traffic stop on Larrabee Road in Westbrook.
Seized from that vehicle were:
- 363 grams of suspected cocaine base
- Approximately $20,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
Also seized were other items indicative of drug trafficking.
MDEA officials say cocaine base, also known as crack, currently sells for between $80 and $120 per gram on the streets.
That puts the estimated street value of the drugs between $29,040 and $43,560.
Both suspects were taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
Sentayehu's bail was set at $15,000 cash, while Pomerleau's bail is $32,500 cash.
Winthrop, Maine Drug Bust Nets Arrest of a Resident of the Dominican Republic
Maine Drug Agents were in Winthrop on Thursday afternoon, investigating alleged drug trafficking at a Winthrop motel.

Jorge Luis Franco Mejia, 31, of the Dominican Republic, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in cocaine and fentanyl.
Mejia's bail has been set at $100,000.
Over 90K Lethal Doses of Fentanyl Seized in Winthrop, Maine, Drug Bust
Officials executed a search warrant on Mejia's motel room and seized:
- 180 gross grams of cocaine
- 20 gross grams of fentanyl
- $1,660 in suspected drug proceeds.
The fentanyl seized is enough for potentially 91,000 lethal doses of the drug.
MDEA officials say the estimated street value of the drugs seized is $20,000.
More arrests are expected.
