Madawaska Woman Struck By Van In Care Facility Parking Lot

A Madawaska woman has died after being hit by a transit van in the parking lot of a care facility.

84-year-old Gloria Rouleau was walking behind the vehicle in the Ridgewood Estates parking lot when she was hit as it was backing up. The van is registered to the care facility and is modified for handicap accessibility.

Madawaska Police Chief Ross DuBois told the BDN that there was no indication of alcohol use by the driver, Lisa Pelletier,  who is an employee of the facility. Still, as a matter of procedure for all such accidents, toxicology tests were performed. Results of those tests could take weeks.
