Madawaska Police are investigating an assault that led to 2 arrests and the seizure of a variety of illegal drugs.

Madawaska, Maine Police Arrest 2 for Aggravated Assault

Two people face charges in connection with an assault that allegedly took place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Joshua Hafford, 30, of Madawaska, is charged with:'

  • Aggravated assault
  • Unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs
  • Falsifying physical evidence
  • Violation of conditions of release
  • Unlawful possession of scheduled drugs

Tyler Waterman, 44, of Grand Isle is charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Burglary
  • Assault
  • Falsifying physical evidence

Hafford is being held at the Aroostook County Jail on $50,000 cash bail, while Waterman posted $15,000 cash bail.

Madawaska, Maine Police Investigation into an Alleged Assault

The charges stem from an investigation that began at 11 pm on Saturday, when a man entered the Madawaska Police Department, seeking emergency assistance after allegedly being assaulted by two men at 443 Main Street in Madawaska.

Madawaska Police say the victim was able to identify his assailants.

Madawaska, Maine Police Seize Illegal Drugs from Assault Suspect's Home

Officers went to Hafford's residence and took him into custody while executing a search warrant at his home.

Seized in that search were:

  • 12 electronic devices
  • 839 hypodermic needles
  • 3 unlawfully possessed prescription medication
  • 26 methamphetamine pills
  • 66 grams methamphetamine.

K9 Luka aided in the search that also uncovered additional drug-related paraphernalia,

As the investigation continued, Waterman was arreested on May 24, 2026.

This investigation continues and officials say more charges may be added, pending the outcome of laboratory testing.
