You're invited to join several local bands in Bangor this Sunday as they donate their time to help a family that's very much in need.

Maine's music community is such an amazing group of people. They care about others and do what they can to offer a helping hand. And everyone who attends these benefit concerts are equally special. This Sunday is another chance for you to give a hand up to a family that's struggling.

Sunday's benefit is for the family of Barry Greene. Barry is a hard-working, caring 62-year-old man who has worked for years as a painter in order to support his family. In addition, he's always there to help anyone in need. But now, it's Barry and his family who are in need, as he's in the late stages of cancer. He's been unable to work and his wife is struggling, trying to support their family on her own. Right now, the Greene family is living out of town, in a home that will soon be closed up for the winter. They desperately need to find housing in the Bangor area so Barry will be able to get to his treatments.

Sunday, from noon to 6 p.m., several local bands will gather at the Bangor Elks to play music, hold a spaghetti feed, raffles, and a bake sale to try and raise funds so the Greene family has a place to live over the winter.

Providing the music will be 7 local bands: The Bob Loblaw Band, The Rick Carter Band, 5 Wheel Drive, Country Boots, R.E.O (no, not the Speedwagon...this is Ron Overlock's band!), The Prairie Dogs, and Sideways. (I know I don't have the order right, but they'll all be there) Be sure to wear your dancing shoes for all the great tunes!

There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door, but if you don't have $10, give $5. If you can give more, well that's cool too! Barry has helped so many. Now it''s time for the community to give back.
