65-Year-Old Lewiston Woman Critically Injured When Hit By a Car
A woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Lewiston on Tuesday.
The Identities of the Pedestrian and Driver Have Been Released
Nellie Rawding, 65, was walking in Lewiston when she was hit by a vehicle driven by Mark Lamothe, 21. He was driving a 2019 Nissan Sentra and stopped when the crash happened.
Officials Say the Driver is Cooperating With Police
Lewiston Police say their officers were dispatched to 475 Lisbon Street just after 2:00 Tuesday afternoon for a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident. When they arrived on the scene, they found Ms. Rawding in critical condition. The driver, Mr. Lamothe, was at the scene and is cooperating with the police. Ms. Rawding was transported to Central Maine Medical Center where she was briefly treated before being transferred to Maine Medical Center. At the last report, she was still hospitalized.

Lisbon Street was shut down for much of the evening as Accident Reconstruction Officials gathered evidence. So far no details have been given as to what may have caused the driver to hit the woman or whether any charges will be filed.
The incident remains under investigation.
