
Levant, Maine House Fire Battled By Crews from Several Towns
A home on the Wing Road in Levant was seriously damaged by fire on Friday.
Levant, Maine House Fire Reported on Wing Road
No one was hurt in the fire a 160 Wing Road in Levant that was called in just before noon.
A caller told the 911 dispatcher that there was heavy smoke coming from the eaves, so the Levant Firefighters called for help from other local agencies.
Levant, Maine House Fire Started on the Back Porch
When the Levant Fire & Rescue crews arrived on the scene, they determined the single story home had heavy fire on the back porch are, which was quickly spreading into the house.
Fire had also spread to a large outbuilding, so the incident was elevated to a 3-alarm fire.
At first, firefighters were not sure whether anyone was home, since there was a single vehicle in the driveway.
As they made their way into the structure, they determined that no one was home.
Levant, Fire Department Says Wing Road House Damaged, But Not Totaled
Fire officials say a few factors contributed to making this a quick knock-down, including the time of day, when the larger daytime staff was on duty.
In addition, they thanked the staff at the Penobscot Regional Communications Center for an incredible job handling this fire and another just South of Penobscot County.
When the fire was extinguished, both affected buildings were still standing. Though the house suffered smoke and water damage, only the back porch was a total loss.
