Human remains located in Lebanon have been identified as a local man who's been missing since 2017.

Maine State Police say the remains found last week have been identified by the State Medical Examiner's Office as Dale Godfrey, 55 of Lebanon. Godfrey was last seen on April 26th of 2017, as he was leaving his home at 167 Sam Wentworth Road.

The remains were discovered in the area of 340 TM Wentworth Road in Lebanon by the property owner, who was preparing to cut the wood lot. Officials say a wallet with Godfrey's identification was found in close proximity of the remains, along with bits of clothing matching the description provided when he went missing.

At the time of his disappearance, Godfrey was sought by police in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident at his home. So far, the Medical Examiner's Office has not released the cause and manner of Godfrey's death.
