Popular Department Store Will Not Be Closing Maine Locations
Despite the recent announcement that dozens of stores will be closing nationwide, it looks like the locations in Maine are safe for now!

While it’s never good to hear about businesses closing, there’s a silver lining for us here in the Pine Tree State. None of the locations shutting down across the country for this department store are in Maine!
So, given all of that, which popular department store recently announced several closures across the country but will not be closing any of its locations in Maine?
Kohl's is set to close 27 underperforming stores across 15 states by the end of April, with many locations shutting even sooner due to dwindling inventory. According to Daily Mail, bargain hunters have rushed in to grab last-minute clearance deals, with some stores already down to just a few racks of heavily discounted merchandise.
This move is part of a larger retail shake-up, as experts warn that up to 15,000 stores nationwide could close by the end of the year—double the number from 2024.
Former CEO Tom Kingsbury stated in January that Kohl’s carefully considers difficult decisions to support the company’s future growth. The retailer operates over 1,000 stores nationwide, including five locations in Maine: Bangor, Augusta, Auburn, Westbrook, and Biddeford.
There you have it! Kohl’s recently announced its intention to close dozens of locations across the country, but it appears that Maine’s stores are safe for now!
