A weekly program in Bucksport this summer will offer an outdoor storytime for kids, complete with ice cream treats.

Every Saturday, until August 24th, children will gather in the courtyard next to Wahl's Dairy Port where volunteers will read aloud to the kids, starting at 11 a.m. Each child, ages nine and under, will receive a free book that they can take home, courtesy of Literacy Volunteers of Maine. And, as if that wasn't enough, they'll get a coupon for a free ice cream from Wahl's Dairy Port.

Volunteers are still needed to read the stories. Organizers provide the books, so all the volunteers need to do is show up and read. Sounds like a fun way to spend a Saturday morning. Sign up for one week, or more, if there are enough available.
