Roger's Market In Hudson Changing Hands As Original Owner Retires

For the past few decades, Roger's Market has stood on the corner of Rt. 221 and Rt. 45, (2335 Hudson Road to be exact) and provided both locals and folks from out-of-town a spot to stop, gas up, get some food, and stock up on anything else they might think of. or need.

Roger Burnham established Roger’s Market in 1977, and his son-in-law Rick Trench took over later on.

A trip to the Roger's Market website will tell you that this store has been a hub for the little community of Hudson and with good reason; they have just about anything and everything a person might need.

"From groceries to hardware, we've got it all under one roof. But we're more than just a store - we're a gathering place, where neighbors come to catch up and visitors are welcomed with open arms...Being located just minutes from Puhsaw Lake, our store has been a popular destination for locals and tourists alike for many years. "

After 46 years in the business, the family is ready to retire and hand the keys to the business over to someone else.

According to their final post on the Roger's Market Facebook Page,

"The last decade has been anything but boring. From numerous crazy weather events, to a worldwide pandemic, unheard of inflation, and supply chain issues, we’ve seen it all. One thing has always remained the same though, and that’s been our commitment of being here for the greater Hudson community 365 days a year, good times or not...It’s been a wild ride. Thanks for many great years, Hudson."

The comment section of their Facebook announcement was flooded with folks wishing them well and recounting fond memories and interactions with those who worked there.

One woman wrote "So many memories.....I moved to Hudson more than 41 years ago....first as a young wife and then a new mom...now going into the store often with our grandchildren. Rick was always welcoming and took time to say hello and ask about the family. It's a well deserved retirement....may you enjoy it ....but you will be missed."

Another wrote "Thank you for supporting our community and providing help to various community and school organizations throughout the years, plus employment opportunities for many people in the area. We really appreciate it and wish you the best in your retirement/future endeavors. Thanks for the memories!"

The folks from Rogers have sold the business to Nishant & Parth Patel, who also purchased the Levant Corner Store back in February.

According to the post, the Patels will take over the business effectively immediately.

They may not be owned by the original owners, and they may not look the same as they did years and years ago. But that same hometown feeling is there, the minute you set foot on their wooden floors. More than likely the same wooden floors that your grandparents set foot on.
