Don't get me wrong, there are lots of awesome things about a local Trunk-or-treat; the fun decorations, the candy, the safe and enclosed space kids can venture about in as they show off their outfits and collect their treats.

But when you incorporate all of that goodness with helping a good cause, that's a real 'level up' as the kids say.

That's not only great exposure for the local businesses, but also a fair amount publicity for this year's charity benefactors, Sarah's House in Holden, Maine.

"What started as an opportunity for neighboring businesses to come together and do something fun for local families has really grown into something special. One of my favorite things about this event is seeing businesses that might otherwise never cross paths come together for a common purpose. Everyone puts their own creative spin on their trunk, the kids have an absolute blast, and we get to create a fun, safe,
and memorable evening for families in our community. We're expecting our biggest turnout yet, and I couldn't be more excited!"

Smith says not only will people from Sarah's House will be on hand collecting things from their wishlist, if people with to donate, but there's also another way to help the organization, too.

"We're also proud to feature Sarah's House as this year's nonprofit beneficiary. Sarah's House provides a home away from home for individuals traveling to the Bangor area for cancer treatment. Representatives will be on-site collecting much-needed wish list items, and Darling's Ice Cream Truck for a Cause will be helping raise funds for the organization."

LOOK: How Halloween has changed in the past 100 years

Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
