A 31-year-old man was sentenced to 20 months in prison after an armed confrontation with police.

Brandon Dearborn from Oxford will also have three years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty on January 31, 2024 to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Man was “Brandishing” Firearm at Apartment Complex

Dearborn was “brandishing a firearm outside an apartment building in the town of Mexico in August 2022,” said court documents.

Suspect “Urged Officers to Shoot Him”

Police ordered him to drop the Ruger .22 pistol. “Dearborn instead urged the officers to shoot him and raised the pistol towards them, prompting the officers to fire, striking Dearborn multiple times.”

Prior Felony Drug Conviction

Dearborn was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony drug conviction.
