President Joe Biden Expected to Visit Lewiston, Maine, Later This Week

Following the horrific tragedy that unfolded nearly a week ago in Maine's second-largest city of Lewiston, it looks like the area will get a visit from the Commander-In-Chief, President Joe Biden.

According to an article published by the Kennebec Journal, the 46th President of The United States is expected to visit the city of Lewiston this coming Friday, though the White House has not confirmed the stop just yet.

This would be the president's second stop in the Lewiston/Auburn area this year alone. He was here back in July to talk about his policies surrounding the country's economy, also known as 'Bidenomics.'

The KJ reported that following the shooting "that left 18 dead and 13 injured Wednesday night, Biden called for universal background checks, an assault weapon and high-capacity magazine ban and other gun safety measures."

Biden said in a press release following Wednesday's shootings;

“Once again, our nation is in mourning after yet another senseless and tragic mass shooting. Today, Jill and I are praying for the Americans who’ve lost their lives, for those still in critical care, and for the families, survivors, and community members enduring shock and grief.”

We expect the White House to confirm the trip later this week. We imagine that they are waiting for clearance from the Secret Service's advanced safety team.
