It's true, the winning Mega Millions ticket, worth $1.35 billion dollars, was sold at a store in Maine.

Where Was It Sold?

The Maine Lottery Commission posted on its Facebook page that the winning ticket was sold at Hometown Gas & Grill in Lebanon, Maine. Have you been there lately? Did you buy a Mega Millions ticket there? If so, then your life may have changed in a huge way. And even if you didn't buy your tickets there, check them anyway. I mean, I wouldn't argue with a $4 or $5 million dollar lesser prize.

What Are the Numbers?

The winning numbers are:

30 43 45 46 61 with a megaball number 14 and a megaplier x2

Has Maine Ever Had a Big Winner Before?

This is the first time a Mega Millions Jackpot ticket has been sold in Maine. Mega Millions is played in 45 states, plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Basically, the only states that don't take part are Nevada, Utah, Alabama, Alaska, and Hawaii.

It was a very exciting few minutes this morning, when I realized the winning number was sold in Maine. My husband and I ran to grab our tickets and check the numbers, only to realize that we came up empty. Nothing. Not even a free ticket won. But, hey, we had a few seconds to think about how $1.35 billion would change our lives. The cars we would buy. The house we would find. And the trips we would take to all of our dream destinations. Ah well. Maybe next time.

Whoever the lucky Mainer is who just had their life changed forever, congratulations! We're very jealous but very happy for you.

This hands down proves that Mainers are the most generous (and sarcastic) humans on the planet.
