Hot, Humid & Hockey in Maine
Hottest most humid day so far this year.
And your mind turns to hockey if you’re a fan. Bruins Islanders series is tied at 2, with 2 of 3 possible games at home. News in the hockey community came to light last month that former U Maine player and coach Guy Perron, who lives in Bangor, has Prostate Cancer. And because the hockey community is so great, many people have helped out to assist the family at this time.

There is a meal train for Guy and his wife and 3 kids. Info here.
A golf tournament that will include many former Black Bear players and fans is coming up in a few weeks and the event has sold out. There will be a silent auction at the golf tournament and any collector will be thrilled with what has been gathered to auction.
Former U Maine goalie, and current 92.9 The Ticket Sports Talker, Greg Hersch was a Black Bear from 91 to 95 when Guy Perron was a coach.
Guy is an outstanding citizen of the community and still involved in all levels of hockey. He and his family more than deserve our support.
And what would fundraising be for a hockey guy without hockey games. Penobscot Ice Arena in Brewer will host Teed Off at Cancer Friendship Hockey Tournament to benefit the Perron family. It will be held August 13th, 14th, and 15th. During the tourney, there will be 50 50 raffles, a donation bucket, and a silent auction. Greg also talked about numerous players coming back for the mid August hockey tournament. Tournament info here
If you have ever been near anything hockey you know there will be a lot of great stories told, a lot of laughs, a few tears, and most of all as much money raised as possible for a member of the hockey family. You got this Guy.
