The producers of 'NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt' plan to send a crew to Maine next week so they can cover a fundraiser for Honor Flight Maine.

The fundraiser is being held at the Red Barn Restaurant in Augusta, on Monday, July 11th, from 1 to 7 p.m. Folks are invited to stop by for great food, live music, and lots of antique cars! And all the money raised will benefit the organization that sends American Veterans on free trips to Washington, D.C. so they can view their national monuments.

The owners of the Red Barn put a touching post on Facebook (below) that describes a conversation with a man who was sad over the lack of recognition for his Veteran friend who had passed away. While the owner was speaking with him, a phone call came in from NBC, expressing interest in attending the fundraiser next week.

Honor Flight Maine is always looking for Veterans who have still not seen their national monument, to get them signed up for a free trip. Organizer Laurie Sidelinger says each Veteran is given 'guardians' whose job it is to make sure they're treated like royalty on the journey, and never pay for anything.
