Every week we feature a new hometown and share photos and facts using hashtags on social media. This week our #hashtag hometown is Pittsfield!
Oh, how beautiful Pittsfield really is! Home of the Central Maine Egg Festival! This is a perfect example of Maine's big, small towns! The population of 4,200+ makes it big by Maine standards, but it sure has that small town, home-y feel to it!
The town began on saw mills as many did in the state, but Pittsfield's many industries grew and were more successful than many others for quite some time! It seems through the ups and downs of those industries successes the town has only grown.
Did you know Pittsfield was once home to not one but three of Maine's past governors! Including one, Nathaniel M. Haskell who was only governor for one day!
