The Sister City of the Queen City, Brewer is a more close knit and quieter version of Bangor. Like Bangor, Brewer has a lot of history, shopping, food options, and some really successful businesses!

Over the last few years Brewer has gone through a lot of changes, ups and downs, but still remains a busy town. The town was built on busy industry dependent on the river like Brick making, Ship building, and Saw-milling. Today busy Brewer industries include Cianbro, and Getchell Bros Ice Factory.

In 1900 there was a $5 prize to the first boy to climb the 173ft smoke stack at the Eastern Manufacturing Company, where the current Cianbro is located. The prize was doubled to $10 when to everyone's surprise a young girl was the first to make the climb successfully!

Prominent Civil War Hero Joshua Chamberlain was from Brewer, his statue stands near the Penobscot Bridge overlooking the river. Musicians Howie Day and Sean Danielsen also call Brewer their hometown.
