Hampden Drug Busts Nets Dangerous Drugs and 2 Arrests
Two men face charges after a vehicle stop resulted in the seizure of dangerous drugs in Hampden.
Who Are the Two Men Arrested?
The vehicle containing Brian Maingrette, 30, of Massachusetts and Lance Chipman, 36, of Rockland, was stopped at approximately 8:30 Tuesday night on Carmel Road North in Hampden.
How Did the Deputy Find the Drugs?
According to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle was pulled over because it was allegedly being operated erratically and had some sort of defect. During the course of the stop, the deputy learned that Chipman was out on bail and was found to be in possession of a suspected crack pipe. A search was conducted on the vehicle, and officials say the deputy found a baggy of suspected Fentanyl and a large sum of money, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales. When the pair was taken to the local jail, correctional officers found two more baggies, containing suspected Cocaine and Crack Cocaine.
What Charges Do the Suspects Face?
Maingrette and Chipman were both arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs, which is a class A felony. Officials say additional charges are pending and the incident remains under investigation.
