Guided Tours of Mount Hope Cemetery Saturday

Take an informative tour of the second oldest Garden Cemetery in America. Visit the final resting place for some of Maine's famous and infamous people and more. 

The Bangor Historical Society would like to show you Mount Hope Cemetery like you've never seen it before. Information includes bios of some of the more well known people buried in the cemetery and descriptions and details about different symbols and markings on the stones.

Mount Hope is the second oldest Garden Cemetery in America, a type of cemetery designed to be a peaceful place for those buried there as well as the visiting living.

The cemetery was also used as a set for the movie based on Stephen King's book 'Pet Cemetery'.

The tours start at 10 on Saturday and last about an hour and a half. Tickets are available at BangorHistoricalSociety.org.
