Groundhog Be Darned…Bangor’s Broadway Dairy Queen To Open For Season Wednesday
Yes, we may have just experienced a record-setting arctic blast of below zero temps, but there are some, like myself, who can never quite get ice cream out of our minds, regardless of the weather.
And those of us who are die-hard ice cream lovers wince a little every time an ice cream shop shuts down for the season.
That was the case when the DQ on Broadway in Bangor closed for winter on December 22nd of last year. That was a sad day at my house.
Then the groundhog saw his shadow, sentencing us to 6 more weeks of winter, and life seemed almost hopeless and definitely less happy than it could be.
I'm glad to report that both hope and happiness have returned, as it was announced on the Broadway Dairy Queen's Facebook Page that they'd be opening for the season THIS WEEK! (I'm not planning to tell them that winter is far from over, and you better not either!)
"Opening Wednesday, February 8th from 11-7!! We can't wait to see you again."
And if history has taught me anything about opening day at the Broadway DQ, it's that there's going to be some backed-up traffic along Broadway on Wednesday. So just be prepared for a line of cars to be in that middle lane in front of the restaurant, and that people leaving the drive-thru will be smiling from ear to ear while they eat their blizzards and cones!
I know I will!
